What to wear for tree farm mini photos!
Let’s be honest, one of the most stressful parts of family photos is trying to figure out what to wear. Whether you plan months in advance or scramble the day before, the stress is real. Trust me, I get it. You have hours of stress for 20 minutes of photos - how do you get it right?
Well that’s where I come in. Here are my top tips for planning your outfits for tree farm mini sessions!
The first tip - dress weather appropriate.
Yes, these photos will be used in the winter but they actually take place during warmer weather. So leave the heavy holiday sweaters at home and instead, wear clothes that work for the fall. You don’t want your family to bee too warm and complaining. Your littles will likely end up wanted to take their sweater or jacket off.
Dressing in layers can help you adjust to changing temperatures. You can add or remove layers as needed, so you stay comfortable throughout your session!
Wear comfortable shoes.
Remember - it is a farm. Therefore, you'll be walking around on uneven terrain. Wearing comfortable shoes that you can walk in easily is important - not the time for stiletoes. Boots or sneakers with good traction are a great choice.
Choose clothes that incorporate festive colours.
Red and green are the classic holiday colours, so you can definitely consider incorporating those into your family’s outfits. But there are also other festive colours like gold, silver and blue that can really pop with the green trees. Don’t be afraid to go a little outside the traditional holiday box!
Avoid wearing patterns that clash with the environment.
The tree farm is already a busy and colourful environment, so you’ll want to avoid wearing busy patterns or bright colours that clash with the surroundings. Instead, opt for solid colours or subtle patterns. You also don’t want multiple family members where patterns. If you choose to have more than one person pattern, the more subtle the pattern, the better.
In the end, it truly doesn’t matter what you wear - it’s about capturing your family’s memories. These tips are suggestions that can help guide you and alleviate some stress. So if your child is insistent on wearing their bright red snowflake sweater - let them. It’s not worth the stress and meltdown. These things won’t change the love you have for each other. That’s all that matters!
