Get to know your photographer!
In honour of my birthday this month, I thought it would be fun to share some random facts about me. I find that the more times I photograph clients, the more comfortable they get. Why? Because each time we get to know one another a little bit more! That’s why I am pretty chatty during my sessions - I genuinely want to know more about each person. I think it’s important to connect, relate and learn about my clients - who eventually turn into friends. So with that in mind, here are few things about me!
10 random facts about me…
Sometimes when people meet my husband and I for the first time, they are surprised to hear we’ve only been together for a total for 8 years. BUT the truth is, we actually knew each for 12 (maybe even more) years before we started dating!
I always thought I would be a boy mom. Never pictured having a daughter. Now I have two and couldn’t imagine it any other way.
I believe rain is one of the most calming sounds.
If I could, I would keep the Christmas lights up in the house all year around.
I have two university degree’s - a bachelors and masters. My goal going into university was to be the first female GM in the NHL. I quickly learned that professional sports was NOT for me and switched my focus to sports philanthropy - which is still a love of mine.
I am a music lover. I have my father to thank for that! Two of my favourite bands not too many people have heard of: Augustana and Stephen Kellogg & the Sixers.
The last concert I attended before the world shutdown was The Wiggles. I’m really looking forward to changing that…
Even though I love photographing during an epic summer sunset - I actually don’t love summer. I prefer snow covered hills. There is just something so comforting about a hot coffee and cuddling under a big warm blanket.
I have 4 tattoos and 3 of them represent very important people in my life: my grandmother, my husband and my children. The fourth represents the time in my life where I grew the most and truly found my purpose - motherhood.
After every single photoshoot I feel truly honoured to have been chosen to capture such important memories. I leave feeling full and grateful that I get to call this my job!
